Professional Activities
Aline Banno currently teaches private piano lessons in her home studio and also at the VSO School of Music. She has taught rudiments at all levels, level one history, and both elementary and advanced levels of pedagogy.
She studied with Phyllis Schuldt at UBC while pursuing her BMus degree.
In addition to teaching the Kelly Kirby Teachers' Courses for several years, Ms. Banno has regularly presented workshops to the Kelly Kirby Teachers' Association of Greater Vancouver. She has also given workshops to various groups such as the Registered Music Teachers' Association and the student auxiliary associations of the RMTAs in various communities. In addition she has conducted workshops sponsored by The Royal Conservatory, presenting on such topics as "Successful Examination Preparation" and "An introduction to the Institution of Royal Conservatory Examinations."
Aline Banno has adjudicated piano classes in many music festivals throughout British Columbia, including the Cranbrook and Kelowna Music Festivals, Burnaby Clef Festival, Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival, and music festivals in Campbell River, Terrace, Whistler, and Squamish.
In 1975 Ms. Banno joined the North Shore Branch of the BC Registered Music Teachers' Association, receiving her twenty-five year pin in 2000. As a long-standing member, she has held a number of executive positions in this association including Vice-President and President. In addition she has been active on the executive of the North Shore Music Festival Association (organized by the North Shore Branch of the Registered Music Teachers' Association). In 1986 Aline joined the Vancouver branch of the Kelly Kirby Teachers' Association where she held top executive positions.
