Originally from Manitoba, Amanda Penner completed a Bachelor of Music in violin performance at the University of Manitoba before moving to Toronto where she obtained a master’s degree in viola performance at the University of Toronto. Inspired by the philosophy and pedagogy of Dr. Suzuki, she received extensive training in the Suzuki Method. She developed a strong foundation of teaching skills and values in her first job at the Huntsville Suzuki School.
Currently, she teaches at the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre and the Royal Conservatory of Music. As a freelancer, Amanda uses a diverse skill set to perform music from a variety of genres. She regularly tours Canada and the US with Classic Albums Live. Closer to home, she performs with Talisker Players, Opera York, Euphonia Chamber Orchestra, and The Big Sound.
