Katie Young holds a PhD in Music and Geography from Royal Holloway, University of London, and a Master of Arts in Music from the University of Toronto. Her research examines the relationship between music and everyday spaces in diverse contexts, ranging from Hindi film music’s circulation and adaptation in postcolonial Ghana, to her most recent research on the role of nocturnal space in Irish Drill music. She is a postdoctoral research fellow at Brock University, Canada, and is the editorial assistant for Ethnomusicology Forum journal. Katie has presented her research internationally and has published in a range of international journals and books, including Ethnomusicology Forum, Journal of African Cultural Studies, Ethnomusicology, and Journal of Migration and Culture. She is co-editor of the forthcoming volume Sonic Signatures: Music, Migration and the City at Night (2023).
