Pamela Van Weelden works with students at all levels and ages, including piano teachers who want some professional development. As a teacher of the Alexander Technique she works particularly with students who are experiencing pain caused by poor body use and practise habits. The Alexander Technique is a valuable tool for such students. At John Knox Christian School she teaches elementary classroom music and conducts children's choirs.
Influential teachers in Pamela's development included Howard Munn, Damjana Bratuz, and Menachem Pressler.
For the past fifteen summers Ms. Van Weelden has performed at the Menachem Pressler Piano Master Class in Adamant, Vermont. This five-day intensive piano event always inspires her to continue teaching and performing.
She has presented many Alexander Technique workshops for pianists and singers in Mississauga, Hamilton, and Milton.
Pamela Van Weelden has adjudicated music festivals in Chatham, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Burlington, Milton, Walkerton, and Mississauga.
Besides performing every summer in Vermont she has given solo piano recitals at McMaster University and Mohawk College in Hamilton and in various churches in the Mississauga area. Pamela has been associated with the Calbes Voice Studio and the City Centre Opera (both in Mississauga) and has accompanied many singers there including Eleanor Calbes. She has been a church musician for over forty years. Pamela started as an organist but in recent years has enjoyed being a member of the Praise Team.
Ms. Van Weelden served on the board of CANSTAT, the Canadian Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique.
