Professional Activities
Although Sandra Brewer teaches all levels of piano from beginner to Royal Conservatory grade 10, she specializes in the beginner levels with the goal of helping students learn to play musically and articulately and to take pride in their achievements. As well she prepares students for theory exams. Sandra has maintained her busy private music studio in Burlington, Ontario for over twenty years.
Her principal instructors were Marina Geringas at The Conservatory, Jim Lawless, and the late Keith Hopkins. She studied Early Child Music Education at The Conservatory under Donna Wood, Katie Forrai, and Mary Stouffer
(Practicum).
Sandra has adjudicated in Toronto and at the Milton Festival, the Windsor Festival, and the Winnipeg Festival.
She was the accompanist for both the junior and intermediate choirs at Port Nelson United Church over a period of ten years, and also accompanied a local school choir.
Sandra Brewer is the co-founder of the highly successful Rotary Burlington Music Festival, now in its fifteenth year, and served as vice-president at its inception. She currently sits on the festival's board and on the music committee, and recently held the position of artistic director. Ms. Brewer was a director on the inaugural board of Performing Arts Burlington, initiating a Performing Arts Development Committee. She has held the positions of secretary and treasurer of ORMTA (Hamilton, Halton Branch).
