Sharon Perkins holds an ARCT Diploma in Piano Performance from The Royal Conservatory of Music and an Associate Diploma in Piano Performance from the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music. She has also received a diploma in American Sign Language from Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. Ms. Perkins has more than thirty-three years of experience teaching piano and theory to students ranging from beginners to senior levels, and is also active as an adjudicator for both competitive and noncompetitive music festivals. She is an active member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association.

In addition to teaching, Ms. Perkins has also served as an organist, choir director, and director of music in the Oshawa for more than thirty years. From 1968 to 1986 she was accompanist for the Oshawa Festival Singers, and she is currently accompanist to the General Motors Choir and the Déjà Vu Choral Ensemble. She is also a member of a four-member piano ensemble team and has participated in a number of piano-ensemble concerts.
