Course Description

Elementary Band is a program for elementary and middle-school children with 0-1 years of playing experience. Students can choose from a variety of instruments including flute, clarinet, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, baritone, tuba, and percussion.

While some playing experience is helpful, Elementary Band will help beginners (ages 9-13) acquire playing skills over the Winter Term. To ensure progress, students must commit to the weekly schedule, plus additional practice and preparation at home.

As part of the Royal Conservatory School’s Band Enrichment Program (BEP), Elementary Band includes weekly sectionals and band rehearsals, as well as six 30-minute private lessons.

Students who would like to deepen their learning experience may sign up for additional private lessons and a group theory class.

Weekly Schedule

Sectionals and rehearsals take place on Sundays
11:15am-12:00pm: Group Class (students grouped according to instrument)
12:00-1:00pm: Full Band Rehearsal (all students)

INSTRUMENT RENTAL: The cost of instrument rental is included in the Elementary Band fees.

Visit or contact a Student Service Representative at 416.408.2825 for more information about the Band Program.
