Esprit Orchestra presents Season Finale
Esprit Orchestra presents Season Finale
This final concert of Esprit’s 40th anniversary season will commence with an evocation of Spring, joined by violinist Aaron Schwebel to perform Max Richter’s ingeniously re-imagined Spring movements from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. In contrast, selections from Winter add atmospheric and haunting variety. Chris Paul Harman continues in the vein of reflecting on music from the past with a whirling, topsy-turvy glance at Clementi. A World Premiere by Eugene Astapov offers a poignant mosaic of memories in tribute to a late, cherished, highly talented teenage piano student of his. John Corigliano’s profoundly powerful Symphony No. 1 honours and memorializes three lifelong musician-friends of his during the apex of the AIDS crisis.
