The TD Toronto Jazz Festival is excited to present a double-bill featuring two of the most exciting and important trios in contemporary jazz: the Brad Mehldau Trio and the Avishai Cohen Trio.
One of the most lyrical and intimate voices of contemporary jazz piano, Brad Mehldau has forged a unique path, which embodies the essence of jazz exploration, classical romanticism, and pop allure. “Mehldau is the most influential jazz pianist of the last 20 years.” (The New York Times)
Over the last 25 years, internationally acclaimed bassist, singer, and composer Avishai Cohen has grown to be one of the heavyweights of contemporary jazz, with captivating live performances a unique sound. A great promoter and discoverer of new, young gifted musicians, Cohen once again brings exceptional talent with Guy Moskovich on piano and drummer Roni Kaspi.
