Virtual Celebrations of Excellence
Virtual Celebrations of Excellence
Due to the ongoing uncertainty regarding Covid-19, the 2020-21 RCM Convocation Ceremony and Celebration of Excellence recognition events will be held virtually. The safety of our students, teachers, and staff are our primary concern. We are working hard to ensure our students will have the celebrations they so richly deserve. Graduates and award winners will be contacted in August.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do I record a Celebration of Excellence video?
Please visit
this page for instructions and tips.
-
What piece can I play?
Students are asked to play a piece at the level for which they are being recognized. Students may play a piece that is two levels above or two levels below as needed. Students are limited to the performance of one piece at a Celebration of Excellence. If a student qualifies as a performer multiple times (either on multiple instruments or having won multiple awards for the same instrument) we invite students to select their favourite one piece to perform.
We ask that performers please adhere to the following performance time limitations:
- Preparatory through Level 4: Maximum 3 minutes
- Levels 5 through 8: Maximum 5 minutes
- Levels 9 through LRCM: Maximum 7 minutes
To align with examination guidelines, we ask that when performing repertoire at a Celebration of Excellence Recital that students avoid playing repeats, but observe da capo and dal segno indications.
-
Do I have to memorize my piece?
Music memorization is required for piano and voice performances and highly encouraged for all other instruments.
