Legendary pianist and conductor, Leon Fleisher, represents the highest standard of musicianship. He is the Ihnatowycz Chair in Piano at The Royal Conservatory and will be celebrating his 90th birthday in 2018. For this concert, Maestro Fleisher will conduct the RCO to perform Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2. Guest conductor Joaquin Valdepenas will conduct the RCO and soprano Jocelyn Fralick in Strauss’s Four Last Songs.

The Glenn Gould School (GGS)’s Royal Conservatory Orchestra (RCO), is widely regarded as an outstanding ensemble and one of the best training orchestras in North America. Part of the Temerty Orchestral Program at the GGS, it consists of instrumental students in the Performance Diploma Program and Artist Diploma Program of The Glenn Gould School. Graduates of the RCO have joined the ranks of the greatest orchestras in the world.
