Gratia Leitch

Gratia Leitch

I have ten years’ experience teaching piano. I am a continuing student of the Royal Conservatory of Music, having obtained my Level Ten Piano certificate, and most recently, certification in Teaching Elementary Piano. I believe that a great teacher must also be an enthusiastic student, continuing to learn, bringing their best to students. I am continuing my education with the Conservatory, and am currently studying the Teaching Intermediate Piano course. As a teacher, I have a well-rounded approach to music, supported by knowledge of music history, theory and harmony. With this foundation, I have flexibility in how and what to teach my students, and strongly believe that every lesson must be tailored to the student’s learning style and needs. My musical talents lie in ear training, and playing artistically - two elements that I want to pass along to my students. With solid ear training, students learn how to understand what they hear and how to transfer it to piano. With time, this means that students can play songs without reading music, and create their own music easily. Playing artistically means understanding what the composer’s intention behind the music is, and translating this intention to emotive and beautiful playing.
