Laurie-Jeanne Lister Haynes

Laurie-Jeanne Lister holds both Performance and Pedagogy ARCT Diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Music, BMus and MA Degrees (Musicology) from the University of Victoria as well as the Artist’s Diploma and Magister artium Degrees from the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna (Austria), where she graduated with the highest distinction: “Auszeichnung”. She has enjoyed an international concert and teaching career throughout Canada, the United States and Europe. Numerous students of hers have progressed on to professional music careers. Known as an engaging adjudicator, clinician and lecturer, Prof. Lister has both presented and chaired at professional music conferences. Her book, Humor as a Concept in Music, is required reading for university music courses internationally, and she is published in North American and European musical journals. Laurie Jeanne Lister lives in San Diego, California where she is a Professor of Piano Performance and Music Theory at MiraCosta College, and director of Musikmeister Studio. She continues to enjoy contributing to music education as a member of the College of Examiners of the Royal Conservatory of Music.
