The Bachelor of Music, Performance (Honours) program is a four-year post-secondary program structured to help students master their instruments while at the same time acquiring the theory, ear training, history, and performance skills required to develop compelling interpretations.

The program is offered in in piano, orchestral instruments, and voice.

Participants receive extensive performance opportunities as soloists, chamber musicians, and orchestra members. The Bachelor of Music, Performance (Honours) requires that students have completed a high school diploma or equivalent.


Bachelor of Music, Performance (Honours) Admission Requirements

Disciplines: Piano, Voice, and Orchestral Instruments
Level: Post-secondary (undergraduate)
Program Length: 4 years


Secondary School diploma or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 2.00 (C or 65%), and a competitive entrance audition.

(SAT scores are not required for U.S. applicants).


Piano and violin applicants are required to provide a pre-screening recording featuring three pieces from the audition repertoire page.

Voice applicants are required to provide a pre-screening recording featuring three pieces—one in Italian, one in English, and one in either German or French—from the audition repertoire page

Applicants whose first language is not English require an official English language proficiency score on file that meets the minimum guidelines for admission.


Transfer credits may be awarded for qualifying courses passed with a minimum of a B- (70–73 percent). Contact the Registrar before applying to discuss Transfer Credits and Challenge Exams.



The Royal Conservatory of Music has been granted a consent by the Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Development to offer this program for a seven (7) year term starting October 12, 2017. Prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate to their needs (e.g., acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies or other educational institutions.)
