The duo Liam&LaLa, made up of current GGS students David Liam Roberts, cello (BMus ‘ 22, ADP ‘24) and LaLa Lee, piano (BMus ‘21, ADP ‘23), was selected as one of five touring artists by Debut Atlantic this season. They recently completed a 3-week tour of the Maritime provinces, with 20 performances in 17 days (10 formal concerts, and 10 outreach performances).

Baritone Korin Thomas-Smith, a former Rebanks Fellow (2020-21), has joined the Canadian Opera Company 2023/24 Ensemble Studio after participating in a competitive vocal showcase for young artists from all over Canada. 

Aaron Chan, Rebanks Fellow (2022-23) is one of 24 competitors from 11 countries to compete in the 2023 Violin Edition, Concours musical international de Montréal from April 22 to May 4. 

GGS alumnus Mikhailo Babiak (BMus ‘11, Rebanks Fellow ‘15) has been appointed principal horn of the Orchestre symphonique de Québec. 

GGS alumnus Ryan Garbett (ADP ‘20) has been appointed to third horn of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. 

GGS alumna Sarah Pollard (ADP ‘22) will be joining the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra after winning the international audition for assistant principal flute and piccolo. 

GGS student Kristofer Leslie (ADP ‘23) won the assistant principal trombone position with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, while Jackson Howard (BMus ‘23) was the runner-up. 

GGS alumna Carolyn Farnand (ADP '19) has joined the viola section at Symphony Nova Scotia. 

Bekah Simms was among the winners at the 2023 JUNO Awards for Classical Composition of the Year for Bestiary I & II, which had its world premiere with The GGS New Music Ensemble at The Royal Conservatory's 21C Music Festival.
