Professional Activities
Dianne Baird has over thirty years' teaching experience as a private voice teacher, school music teacher, and university professor both at Memorial University of Newfoundland and at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario. She enjoys teaching at her private voice studio in Ottawa, Ontario and at the Queen's University School of Music, where she holds the position of shared voice coordinator, providing instruction in voice and lecturing on lyric diction and vocal methods.


Dianne attended the Ottawa Summer Vocal Academy and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music Summer Institute of Vocal Performance and Pedagogy with the late Richard Miller. More recently she has attended workshops in vocal diction and musical theatre in San Diego, California, Charlotte, North Carolina, New York City, and State College, Pennsylvania, as well as NATS conferences in Salt Lake City, Utah and Los Angeles, California. In the summer of 2012 she attended the Sarteano Choral Conducting Workshop in Italy.
Examining for The Royal Conservatory has taken Ms. Baird to various regions of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. She has also adjudicated at Kiwanis Festivals in Saskatchewan and Labrador, and adjudicates regularly at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Student Vocal Festival in Ottawa.


Dianne Baird has sung as a soloist and as a chorister with the McGill Concert Choir, the Memorial University Concert and Chamber Choirs, Opera Lyra Ottawa, the Cantata Singers of Ottawa, Seventeen Voyces, the Ottawa Choral Society, the Christian Chorale, the Savoy Society, the University of Ottawa Orchestra and Concert Choir, the Avalon Trio, the Ottawa Bach Choir, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. She has performed recitals together with on-air interviews for CBC radio.

In addition to being a member of the College of Examiners, Dianne is a member of the executive and serves as
secretary for the National Capital chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
