Join us for an inspiring morning focused on celebrating diversity and creativity in The RCM Certificate Program. Two new, complimentary workshops have been prepared exclusively for BC teachers by Elaine Rusk, Vice President of Academics and Publishing.
Exploring Diversity in the Celebration Series®, Sixth Edition | 9:00 am – 10:15 am
Elaine Rusk will be joined by special guest, composer and pianist Edward Han Jiang, to discuss diversity in the new series, with a focus on music by Chinese composers. Edward will discuss the inspiration behind his compositions and share teaching tips for successful performance.
Lead-sheet Reading: A Pathway to Creativity | 10:45am – 12:15pm
Beginning at Level 5, students can choose the optional activity of lead-sheet reading instead of traditional sight reading on their RCM Certificate Program exams. The ability to read from lead sheets allows students to expand their creativity and create arrangements as they apply their understanding of root/quality chord symbols. Join Elaine Rusk for this interactive workshop to discover ways to explore this performance skill with your students.
