I am a passionate and certified music teacher with nearly three decades of experience in educating, entertaining, showcasing, and nurturing the musical talents of all ages worldwide. I firmly believe that music is sound. I believe everyone has a talent, and it takes three to make music: the composer, the performer, and the audience. I hold a Level 8 Piano certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music, a Kodaly Level 1 certification, an Orff Level 1 certification, and a Choral Conducting degree from Georgia State University, GA, and Boston University, MA, respectively. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and a Master of Arts in Community Music from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo. An active member of the Ontario Registered Music Teacher (ORMTA), Ontario Music Educator Association (OMEA), and Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) in good standing, and Choral Canada.
As an undergraduate in 1995, I founded the Music Language Society at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. I organized and directed a concert tagged "Mozart at 5" to officially launch this music school at Oduduwa Hall on April 22, 1995. After graduation, the name was changed from Music Language Society to Music Language School, reflecting the concept that music is a universal language. The school motto is "Non-Scholae Sed vitae" (Not for School but for Life). It is a place to discover and nurture everyone's musical talents and gifts. I enjoy teaching children and adults of all ages from diverse backgrounds in private & individual lessons in voice, piano & rudiments. As an experienced music educator, I taught Piano, Voice, Percussion, and Recorder, and served as a Collaborative pianist at American International School Lagos. As Director of Music at St. Savior's School, Ikoyi, I organized musical recitals, talent shows, the school choir, and orchestra, and conducted weekly assemblies, Christmas concerts, and end-of-year musical productions. I teach Classical, Gospel Jazz, African folk songs, Pop, choruses, worship and praise, and Hymns.
As part of my passion for choral music, in 2007, I sang tenor in the presentation of the evergreen and famous Handel's Oratorio “Handel Messiah” performed by the prestigious MUSON (Musical Society of Nigeria) choir during their annual MUSON festival.
I single-handedly organized and directed “God Bless Nigeria” in 2010 at MUSON Center, Lagos, marking Nigeria’s 50th independence Celebration as part of my service to my community.
As a Choir Director, every school where I worked won first place at the MUSON Schools’ Choir competition, including the following schools: American International School of Lagos (2005); St. Savior's School, Ikoyi 2011 & 2012); and Meadow Hall School, Lekki (2019). I presented to students for ABRSM and RCM examinations in piano, voice, theory, and rudiments.
My students have won first place in MUSON piano competitions (Solo and Duet categories).
