Hi everyone! I'm Ben - I'm a jazz piano player in my early 20's who has studied music performance at university. I currently have no teaching experience, but I'm hoping that by being a part of the RCM teacher's program I am able to get the experience necessary to make this into a full-time career.
I focus primarily on teaching jazz music, but can do pop music as well if the student prefers it. If the student wants to take part in any RCM exams, then the RCM syllabus and/or Rudiments will be the priority - otherwise I am quite laid back and happy with letting the student decide on what songs he/she wants to play.
Lastly, don't let your age stop you from starting a musical instrument! I started piano when I was 18 and ended up passing the Grade 8 RCM Theory exam in 11 months, so if you're a late bloomer you won't be at any disadvantage!
If I'm chosen to teach you in Jazz Piano and/or Harmony, then I promise to give it my 100% and make sure you understand all of the course material - I may lack the experience, but I'm still knowledgeable about music as a subject. Thanks for reading!
