Before birth, your developing child has been exposed to music in the most organic, natural way possible; their mothers heartbeat. In the fifth month of development, your baby’s hearing has fully developed. This is where I believe the lifelong musical journey begins. My teaching expertise is supported by science, but guided by my heart. I believe that structured programs are key to instilling an appreciation and passion for music into your child’s life. My life’s goal is to share my passion of music with your child, by catering lessons to their individual abilities, learning style and level. I believe each child is unique, and they deserve to be celebrated, praised and encouraged in their lesson. It is also important to maintain concentration and strong discipline, which is carried out through yearly assessments. Through these assessments, students are able to celebrate achievements and accomplishments, which further leads to satisfaction and joy. Whether your child is just beginning music lessons and wants to memorize their favourite song, or your child is working towards a Royal Conservatory of Music exam, each lesson is specifically catered towards their individual goal, and they will always be encouraged in a welcoming, respectful, inspiring, wholesome environment. Throughout their time of study, I focus on developing technique, listening skills, music theory understanding, musical expression, and artistic creativity. My ongoing commitment to the development of your child is best fostered and strengthened through parental involvement. Musical learning is enriched and further stimulated when you the parent, your child the student, and myself, the teacher work together. Creating a practice schedule at home that can be enforced is critical to progress. You can expect after each lesson a full and complete explanation of new material taught in the lesson, concepts we reviewed, and practice goals for the coming week. I truly believe that parental involvement is critical for success, and I encourage you to encourage your child in their music study. I have learned, and continue to learn, throughout my teaching career, the importance of structure, but also the importance of personal creativity. Creating my own music and writing lyrics has been a powerful learning tool throughout my life, and I will always encourage my students to lead with their heart and create their own music. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to ‘take the reins’ and allow their creativity to flow. There is no greater smile than the smile after a student has written their own song and successfully performed it. This incredible experience has changed me as a teacher, and I fully support and encourage my students to create. I believe in the power of music, and I believe in your child.
