I have a great love of music and strong desire to make the world a better place through bringing it to others--whether it be in a worship setting or for those in need of an uplift in their lives, such as those that are convalescing. Opportunities to share talents bless not only the audience but also the performer, so it is important to me to include others in this service. Talents, when shared with good intent, improve best as they are shared with others.
I began playing the flute at ten years old but found my voice through exposure to a variety of music genres while much younger, as early as four years old. As an adult, I've participated many years in a symphony chorus and chorale in the soprano sections. I studied piano and organ for eight years under the founder and director of Ethos School of Music, Magnolia, TX. I currently hold positions in church that my family and I attend as the music coordinator, choir director, and congregational accompanist, playing piano and organ. I enjoy writing instrumental obbligatos to accompany hymns that the church choir will sing.
One of my favorite composer music quotes is "Music is to me the perfect expression of the soul" by Robert Schumann. I truly believe this. Music lessons should be more than about learning to play an instrument and performing. My goal is to also help students connect with their instrument in a way that they feel it has become a part of who they are and a means of expressing their inner selves. Beautiful music can nourish the soul and has the power to uplift, comfort, and heal. This is as true to an audience as it is to the performer.
