Laryssa Pretty

Laryssa Pretty has been teaching piano since September 2008 in Ottawa, Ontario. Over the years, she’s taught hundreds of students and has taught at various music schools, piano studios and privately at her studio. During her studies, she completed her Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Level 9 and her Advanced Theory Rudiments. She is currently working on completing her Level 10 RCM at some point in the future. In addition, she completed her BA in Psychology with a minor in Music in 2012. She continued her studies and completed a Master’s of Education in 2013 where her love for Education deepened. One of her main passions includes teaching and inspiring students to go beyond their original goals. At the studio, Laryssa not only looks to build a solid understanding of musical concepts, but also takes time to foster a love of music. Laryssa finds what interests each student individually and works on goal oriented exercises and techniques that students can use in tandem to their personalized goals. If it’s from playing Billy Joel’s ‘The Piano Man’, or from playing Beethoven’s ‘Fur Elise’ or anything in between, Laryssa will be happy to work on your personal music goals. Piano is her primary instrument, with a keen love for music theory and music history. She is happy to guide you through any piano curriculum and any musical goal. Laryssa is happy to teach at any age from 4+ in-person or virtually. And yes, you are never too old to start piano lessons!
