Vanessa Lai

I am a piano and music theory teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience. Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of studying under renowned teachers who have shaped my expertise in the field. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree with a specialization in music pedagogy from the University of Calgary. My teaching approach revolves around understanding the unique personalities and learning styles of my students. By tailoring my lessons to their individual needs, I aim to create an engaging and effective learning experience. I believe that personalized instruction brings out the best in each student. Over the years, I have successfully prepared many students for examinations up to level 10. Additionally, I am well-versed in teaching ARCT harmony, counterpoint, and analysis, equipping students with a comprehensive understanding of music theory. I warmly welcome students of all ages, with the exception of those who may be too young or not yet mature enough to grasp certain concepts. My goal as a teacher is to instill a lifelong love for music in my students and foster their artistic growth. By drawing on my extensive experience, adapting my teaching methods, and sharing my profound knowledge of music theory, I create a nurturing and supportive environment where students can reach their full musical potential.
