YINGYING LIU

My name is Yingying Liu. I am a senior at the Beijing Film Academy, China, majoring in Composition/Composition Technology Theory. I am expected to graduate in July 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. At the same time, I will go to the United States to study for a master's degree in music education in the autumn of 2022. For my further studies in music education in the future, I have made great efforts in academic preparations from the aspects of music theory and practice ever since the beginning of my college life. I systematically studied Basic Music Theory, Basic Composition, Musical Forms and Works Analysis, Harmonics, Songwriting, Film Music Analysis, Folk Music Analysis, Orchestration Method, sight sing and Ear Training, Polyphony, Film Music Texture Writing, Film Composition, MIDI Production Techniques, Movie Music and other core and elective courses. I believe that my studying composition and composition technology theory not only allows me to fully understand the basic theory of music, but also gives me an opportunity to better approach, understand and appreciate music from the perspectives of understanding and using more instruments. I think all these have completed a solid foundation for me and get me academically ready to pursue the advanced study in music education. In addition to working on academics, I realize that music education is a very practical field. It not only requires the necessary knowledge of music theory, but also needs strong musical perception and performance demonstration skills. The latter can hardly be obtained and improved by training in the classroom alone. Therefore, I have always paid great attention to learning, improving and accumulating experience from educational practice outside the classroom.
