Course Description
NOTE: Tuition does not include textbooks or exam. Students are responsible for purchasing their own textbooks and registering for exams. Summer Intensive theory registration opens in early spring.
This accelerated, Advanced Level course corresponds to the content of a second-year college or university music program, and is designed to prepare students to write the Level 10 Harmony & Counterpoint Examination. Students should be at least 14 years old as of the start of the course. Students must have completed RCM Level 9 Harmony before registering for this course. The completion of weekly homework assignments is required. Please see Course Outline below for more details.
Tuition includes:
- Weekly classes:September to June (Full Year or Fall/Winter Term)
- In-person classes taught by OPSM faculty who are also RCM Examiners
- Moodle Account to access instructor handouts and upload assignments

COURSE OUTLINE
Level 10 Harmony & Counterpoint
- leading-tone diminished 7th chord
- dominant 9th and 13th chords
- sequences
- melody writing (16-measure binary form)
- sonata form, rondo form, and fugal expression
