For the past nineteen years Melodie Erickson Hewer has been the owner/operator of Keyboard Impressions, a busy private studio that teaches a full curriculum in piano and theory for students of all ages, in addition to mentoring senior students in the art of teaching.
Melodie's principal teachers were Reginald Bedford for piano, Paula Elliot for flute, and Leslie De'Ath for senior theory.
Her recent adjudication experience includes Word of Life Institute (Canada); regional, national, and international competitions (2005-2007); A Note Above (Hamilton); and studio competition and scholarship awards (2010).
Melodie is currently active and in demand as an accompanist in a variety of venues and for community-based events. She acted as principal accompanist for the Brant Bible Church Choir in Burlington, Ontario from 1997 to 2005, and as harpsichordist for the Burlington Community Choir and Ruggerie String Quartet in Handel's Messiah, April 2003.
Currently the editor of the Hamilton Halton ORMTA Branch Newsletter, Melodie has been an executive member of the branch since 2003 and was Vice President to 2012. She has participated with the Rotary Burlington Music Festival on the Music Committee (2010-2011) and is also a recipient of the CFMTA Award for Professional Achievement (2011).
