Selena Savage

Selena Savage is a trombonist, vocalist, composer and arranger, born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon. She is currently based in Toronto, and is an active figure within the scene as both a bandleader and side musician.
 

A graduate of the UofT Jazz performance program, Selena studied trombone and arranging with Terry Promane and Christian Overton. She has written and arranged for the UofT Jazz Orchestra, the Jim Lewis 12tet, Angela Pincente Jazz Orchestra, the Dan Bodanis Big Band, and numerous smaller groups led by herself and her peers.

Her most established project, the Selena Savage Septet, performs regularly around the city at venues like The Rex, Jazz Bistro and the Emmet Ray. The music she writes for the group is a fresh take on the classic Toronto large ensemble sound.
