Course Description
A weekly skills and technique class that incorporates ensemble playing.
MEP Cello Group Class is a weekly skills and technique class that incorporates ensemble playing. This class can be taken as an elective for Music Enrichment Program Plus (MEPlus) students, or as a standalone class for students seeking a group learning activity.
Each class will include:
- Technique: scales, bowing, shifting exercises, developing vibrato, and more.
- Musicianship: keeping steady tempo, accurate rhythm, note reading, expressing musicality within an ensemble
- Ensemble playing: blending sound, pitch, articulation, dynamics, eye contact, body movement, and breathing.
The overall goal is to improve overall playing skills and musicianship and thereby enable students to play as a musical team.
Students must provide their own cello, bow, endpin strap, and rosin.
All sheet music and arrangements will be provided by the instructor.
