Course Description

NOTE: Tuition does not include textbooks or exam. Students are responsible for purchasing their own textbooks and registering for exams. ARCT-level Theory and History classes are only offered during the Summer Term.

New Concepts

  • the Romantic Era (Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Liszt, Verdi, Wagner, Tchaikovsky)
  • the Modern Era (Mahler, Ravel, Schoenberg, Berg, Webern, Bartok, Prokofiev, Messiaen, Ligeti, Copland, Coulthard, Cage, Reich, Schafer)
  • Independent Study Essay Topics (Musical Theatre, Jazz, or Technology in Music)
REQUIRED COURSE TEXTS Students must purchase the required course texts prior to the first class from the RCM Bookstore or a local music retailer.
