The Oscar Peterson School of Music is The Royal Conservatory’s school of the community for all ages and abilities, located in our stunning and historic downtown Toronto location! Whether you want to take lessons with RCM Certified faculty in piano, cello, guitar, voice, and more for pure enjoyment or to perform at a professional level, there is something year-round for everyone at the Oscar Peterson School of Music.

Music Classes for Babies and Toddlers
Formal music lessons are a powerful way to help children reach their full intellectual, social, and creative potential. Our early childhood Smart Start™ program is designed to provide the best start for children as young as newborns and up to 6 years old.
Music Lessons for Children and Teens
Budding young musicians will find a fantastic place to start their creative journey at The Royal Conservatory. Students as old as 4 years can enroll in our Music Enrichment Program (MEP), a curriculum that includes professional, one-on-one instruction and musicianship/theory and history. 
Adult Music Programs
It’s never too late to discover, or rediscover, the joy of studying music. Taught by some of The Royal Conservatory’s best teachers, our classes for adults 18+ fit a variety of skill levels. From beginner to advanced, there is something for everyone.
PLAY Day
The Oscar Peterson School of Music PLAY Day takes place on June 7, 2026.
Theory & History Classes
Studying music theory and history is key for well-rounded musicianship. Taught by members of the RCM College of Examiners, students acquire musical literacy, harmony and composition skills, and historical context for the music they play.
The Oscar Peterson Program
The Oscar Peterson Program promotes inclusion and equity and provides the highest calibre music education to underserved youth from the Toronto area.
Classroom Teacher Education and Pedagogy
Committed to the ongoing training of teachers and artists, The Oscar Peterson School of Music offers teacher certification courses and professional development options including ongoing education in internationally recognized methods.
Camps
Are you looking for camps where you can explore your creative potential while meeting new friends? Whether you are new to music or a seasoned young artist, The Oscar Peterson School of Music is the place to be for exciting camps and activities in Toronto. 
Summer Intensives
Taking place at our historic downtown Toronto location, intermediate- and advanced-level music students will learn with leading pedagogues and internationally renowned guest artists in our inspiring two-week summer programs that will challenge and develop their artistry. Auditions are required.
