Music has always been a part of my life as I was surrounded by my parents music - my mother was a pianist and my father a violinist. There is nothing more enjoyable to me than being able to share my love of music with the following generations and there is no greater joy for me than realizing that my students have a richer life because of their music studies. I have a B.Mus degree from Wilfred Laurier University and I am an RCM Certified Teacher and have been teaching for over 30 years. I teach in the Royal Conservatory system because it presents a well-rounded program for the music student - performance, ear training, and theory. I do not send all of my students for exams - only if I feel it will serve a good purpose for their musical and personal development. This is always a joint decision that includes input from the student, the parents, and me. It is very important for the exam experience to be a positive one, as, properly done, it spurs the student on to new heights in their study of music as well as giving a sense of accomplishment. In a normal season, my students perform twice in student recitals that are always high points of the musical year.
