Dr. Alexandra Townsend brings a wealth of experience and passion to her piano teaching, guiding students of all ages and skill levels—from young beginners to advanced musicians refining their craft. Her teaching philosophy blends a strong technical foundation with a focus on personal expression, helping students unlock their full potential in performance. Many of her students achieve top honours in RCM examinations, reflecting her effective and inspiring approach.
Dr. Townsend’s expertise is also recognized through invitations to serve as lecturer, adjudicator, and festival clinician, and she was instrumental in designing and launching a piano pedagogy curriculum for McGill University. A member of the Royal Conservatory of Music’s College of Examiners since the late 1990s, Dr. Townsend is one of the longest-serving RCM examiners in Quebec.
