Alyssa Woolhether

Based in Regina, Saskatchewan, soprano Alyssa Woolhether has built a vibrant and multifaceted career as a voice teacher, adjudicator, workshop facilitator, choir director, and performer. She maintains a thriving private voice studio at The University of Regina’s Conservatory of Performing Arts, where she is dedicated to helping singers of all ages discover their authentic voice through vocal empowerment and functional voice training.
Alyssa is deeply committed to advocating for female voices. She works as a vocal instructor and band coach at GRR! Regina, a youth camp that amplifies and empowers the voices of female, trans, Two-Spirit, and gender-expansive youth, and serves as the music director of the Sisters in Song Women’s Choir of Regina, fostering artistic expression, confidence, and community among singers of all backgrounds and experience.

She holds a Master of Music Performance and Literature from Western University (2019) and a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Regina (2010), along with Level I, II, and III certification in Somatic Voicework™ – The LoVetri Method (2021). Alyssa has trained with esteemed opera programs in Canada and Europe, including Opera NUOVA, Long Reach Opera Workshop, Canadian Operatic Arts Academy, and Accademia Europea dell’Opera.

Renowned for her versatile and emotive lyric voice, Alyssa has performed with numerous opera companies across Ontario, including Vera Causa Opera, Toronto City Opera, MYOpera, and Opera by Request. With over 20 years of stage experience, she is also a seasoned recitalist with an extensive art song repertoire.

Beyond classical music, Alyssa is an accomplished cross-genre performer and songwriter. With her soul/pop band Lyssa & the Try-Tones, she has released three EPs—Basement City View (2022), Chasing Shadows (2023), and New Love Side A (2025)—received two SaskMusic Award nominations for R&B Artist of the Year (2023, 2024), opened for Boney M, and performed at major Saskatchewan festivals including the SaskTel Jazz Festival, Regina Folk Festival, Napatak Ramble, and Gateway Festival.

Alyssa believes that cultivating love and trust in one’s instrument not only builds confidence but also unlocks creativity and fosters a deep connection to both body and self.
