Amanda Medina

My name is Amanda Medina, born and professionally trained in Cuba. After 15 years of formaI education, I was awarded a Masters Degree in Professional Music from the Superior Institute for the Performing Arts (ISA). Right after graduating, I was honoured the First Violin position at The Mozarteum Symphony Orchestra in Havana, Cuba, and gained the chair of First Violin and Concertmaster with the renowned Matanzas Symphony Orchestra. Along with my performing career, I have kept an important role teaching bowed instruments, piano and music theory/harmony. During over 10 years of couching, I have created instructional music programs for students of all ages and skill levels, managed group and individual lessons, taught students with special needs, and offered my pupils vast knowledge of their instrument technique, as well as different music styles: classical, baroque, romantic, contemporary, etc. My lessons include the use of methodology to develop jazz and improvisational skills, and introduce classical techniques into contemporary curriculums. Teaching students with learning disabilities and special needs have helped them increase their self-confidence and feeling of accomplishment. Same way, difficult students with low motivation have acquired very positive results. I am the proud teacher of students with excellent scores in Auditions, Festivals, Competitions, RCM exams, Concerts and Recitals. But overall, I am extremely lucky to seed love for music in my students and blessed to be able to share that joy and love with all of those human beings!
