Music has always been a valued part of my life. I am a third generation music teacher, and as such grew up in a home were music was a daily part of our family rhythm. I began piano lessons at the age of 4, and continued on right through high school, completing my Grade 10 piano and theory certification with the Royal Conservatory of Music before graduating. Throughout high school I began teaching private piano lessons, and discovered a love for teaching music!
Following high school, I earned my Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at PBI. The year after receiving my degree I completed my MYC Level 1 training and opened my first home music studio in 2010. Over the next two years I completed my MYC training and expanded my studio from 15 students to 45. I had been teaching private piano, drum and guitar lessons since I was 15 years old, but adding MYC group classes to my studio allowed me to connect with my students and develop them as musicians in ways I had never before been able to. I have now been teaching piano lessons for over 22 years, and will continue to offer both group and private lessons to our community for as long as I am able to!
In addition to teaching music lessons, I have also been involved in the music of our community over the years through singing in college and church choirs, accompanying local choirs and voice students, accompanying at our local Music Festival, playing piano and leading music at church and directing a Sunday School choir.
