Angela Smart

With a passion for all things music, performance and entertainment, Angela seeks to continually develop, create, and share her musical artistry with the world. Having started playing at a young age, Angela Smart has acquired years of experience both as a performer and teacher. In addition to her musical studies, Angela extensive training in classical ballet has given her a unique perspective on violin performance practice and technique which sets her apart from other musicians. Angela received both her Undergraduate (BMus) and Masters Degree (MMus) in Violin Performance from the University of Calgary under the instruction of notable violinist, conductor and pedagogue, Edmond Agopian. During her studies she was the recipient of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra's "Marley Rynd Memorial Scholarship" as well as the Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship, Calgary Pro Musica Chamber Music Scholarship, among other awards. She has participated in music festivals throughout the world including Orford, Domaine Forget and Academia Europea Dell'Opera in Lucca, Italy. Currently, Angela is based in Calgary, Alberta where she has an active private studio and thriving freelance career. In addition to her classical training, she has had experience performing in a variety of other genres including but not limited to fiddle, pop, jazz and electronic music.
