Catherine Emmons


Catherine Emmons is a piano teacher, composer and collaborative pianist in Toronto, Ontario. She earned her BMus in composition from Wilfrid Laurier University and her BA and MA degrees in dance from York University. Catherine has taught piano, composition and theory for over 25 years to all levels and abilities, tailoring her lessons to include students with disabilities. Her compositions use experimental as well as traditional methods, often combining elements of dance, drama, philosophy and even her own instruments built out of recycled materials, awarding her the New Genre Award from the International Alliance of Women in Music. In recent years Catherine has been focusing on writing piano music, both for herself and for her students, exploring fun themes and musical ideas that would appeal for all levels.
