Christopher Jones

I teach saxophone, clarinet, and a number of topics in music theory in Toronto, ON. Having studied saxophone from the most esteemed pedagogues in Canada, the U.S., and Europe, I aim to help my students find the tools to foster confidence and musicality. My teaching focuses on incorporating fundamentals into technique and crafting informed interpretations of music. Earlier this year, I also taught undergraduate music theory at the University of Toronto as a Teaching Assistant. I have extensive and award-winning experience performing classical contemporary, jazz, and pop music with a variety of ensembles around the world. I am enthusiastic about new music, having worked with composers in a number of world premieres. I recently performed a solo recital and a number of shows with saxophone quartets in Toronto. I have won multiple concerto competitions at the University of Toronto and received a host of awards, including the Herold and Jean Bohne Scholarship, Walter Homburger Scholarship, and being named a University of Toronto Scholar and nominated for a Rhodes Scholarship.
