Connor Stairs

Connor Stairs holds degrees from the University of Manitoba (M.Mus) and the University of Victoria (B.Mus.) in saxophone performance and music education respectively. Currently employed as a musician with the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces, Connor has enjoyed a military career full of diverse performance and teaching opportunities. Outside of the military Connor has been featured as a soloist nationally and internationally, most notably with the Victoria Civic Orchestra, and the Western International Band Conference’s Collegiate Ensemble. Connor has 7+ years of teaching experience ranging from private instruction to work as a clinician and adjudicator. For three consecutive years, Connor led the Canadian forces Training School’s saxophone studio to musical success, literacy, and versatility. As the soprano saxophonist of the Sobremesa Saxophone Quartet, Connor has enjoyed multiple performance opportunities and success in provincial and national competitions. The chamber group also organizes and performs tours around Canada whenever their busy schedules permit. At heart, Connor is a chamber music enthusiast and pedagogue. Valuing above all, the unique ability that music has to engage its performers, and audience, in a conversation, both on and off the stage.
