Dr. Alla Love

I was born in Russia, and am an Honors graduate of the prestigious world renowned St. PETERSBURG CONSERVATORY of Music with a Doctorate in Music Ed.D., D.M.A. As a PROFESSOR in Music, Master Piano Teacher, Pedagogue, Accompanist, Performer and Concert Master I instill unique abilities and special Russian piano secrets into my students. From a young age to mature students, each possesses the invisible knowledge, techniques, and special Russian secrets (not found in any text book) to form wonderful musicianship.

Unique to the exceptionally high standards of the Russian Conservatory curriculum, the syllabus includes extensive study in psychology. This mandatory lengthy course expands pedagogy to the distinguished Russian level as Master Piano Teacher. This skill set enables me to understand the young student and to impart instruction best suited to the students’ abilities.

I have lived in Vancouver for almost 25 years. I am FAMOUS here in Vancouver. The reputation for my highly specialized techniques based on the superlative Russian standard of both teaching abilities and piano techniques that distinguishes Russian musicality from all others. I have been teaching internationally for over 35 years. My studio in Vancouver welcomes students from the entire Vancouver area to include White Rock, West and North Vancouver, Surrey, Hope, and also from Seattle Washington USA.

After my post graduate studies at the Moscow Conservatory, I was rewarded with the distinction as Head of the Piano Faculty at the Professional Institute of Music in CHITA Russia, a most gratifying position I held for 7 years. I teach Master Classes internationally and serve as a Judge on national and international competitions.

Upon returning to St. Petersburg, I joined the prestigious music department at the Mariinsky Theater home of the Kirov Ballet and Opera Theater. As an ACCOMPANIST
I have extensive and intimate knowledge of opera and the critical elements in providing the secret balance and "blend" between piano and the exceptional human talent of natures’ gift to voice. The demands are of olympic proportions where only the best of the best will do. The rewards to both parties are beyond words . . . for the event is art all in its self.

I loved playing for the Kirov/Mariinsky Ballet. The dancers, the strict structure, the precision of tempo and the all important aspect of trust must be there. Some prima ballerinas would only use their favored rehearsal pianist. This is unique intimacy that juxtaposes with trust, for it is formed over a period of time. I became well appreciated for my association with the phenomenal Mariinsky opera singers. Subsequently many ballerinas requested my style to provide strict accompaniment to them in rehearsals. This same trust reaches beyond the keyboard, where I became a true assistant to the performer and now to all of my Vancouver students.

The professionalism my young students achieve is at the highest international standards. They all excel with high honors in their RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) exams. They all become proficient young musicians as I expand the Canadian syllabus to a much higher Russian standard of precision. So successful is this approach, that three of my students recently took first place prizes in their respective age ranges, on the same day, during the International Young Mozart Piano Competition at CARNEGIE HALL New York. This was the first time in the history of this competition that three students from the same teacher on the same day were each awarded First Prizes with a cash award to all three young musicians aged 11, 12 and 14. The Canadian Government in Ottawa recognized this international achievement at Carnegie Hall in New York. The Canadian House of Commons Ottawa presented me with a Certificate of Commendation to mark the occasion on the dramatic success of my trio of winners at Carnegie Hall New York. I am deeply honored that the Government of Canada recognizes my Outstanding Work and Contributions in fostering the advancement of pianistic achievements as Master Teacher and Concert Pianist. I started playing piano at the age of 5 in RUSSIA. I loved every minute of each and every lesson. I actually remember my first lessons. This memory along with the long term love and respect for my professors remains as a musical gift inside of me to this day. This is the heritage and artistry I provide beyond a “lesson” as my unique gift to your children.

Students who have a desire to have a career in music, I am able to prepare them for admission to the world’s most prestigious institutes for music. In America, this would include: Juilliard School of Music, Curtis Institute of Music, Eastman School of Music.

I had a student who was awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London England.

The entrance requirements for all institutes and European conservatories demand an audition to be accomplished with exalted levels of technical precision and artistry. You will achieve this success under the skill and watchful eye of Dr. ALLA LOVE.

I very much look forward to meeting with you.
