Emily Seto-Hughes is an accomplished classical pianist currently on faculty at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She is a member of the College of Examiners. She remains active in the Toronto music community as an adjudicator, examiner and teacher. After completing her BMus at the University of Toronto, she received a fellowship from the University of Toronto to complete her Master’s degree, which specialized in Music Education. Throughout her time at the university, she was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Nancy E. Hardy Music Education scholarship, Doreen Hall scholarship (2015 and 2017), Donna and Richard Holbrook scholarship, Arthur Edward Redsell schoalrship, Richard Ioweth Thorman Jazz scholarship, and the Lloyd Bradshaw Prize. Emily holds an ARCT in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as a Certificate from Carl Orff Canada in the Off-Schulwerk Approach. Her pedagogical approach is deeply rooted in providing her students with a holistic education that fosters independence toward music making and learning. Her students' success is evident in her student-retention rates and credentials as an Advanced Pianist Specialist and an Intermediate Theory Specialist. Emily is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music.
