Eric Chan

Based in Vancouver, Hong Kong-born pianist Eric Chan holds a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from Western University, where he studied under Dr. Kyung Kim, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University under the guidance of Ms. Nancy Loo.

An active performer, Eric enjoys collaborating in chamber music, contemporary works, and early music. He has appeared as harpsichordist, opera pianist, and vocal coach, working with members of Tafelmusik and the Canadian Opera Company.

His performance career includes concert appearances across Canada, Italy and Hong Kong. He has had the privilege of working with renowned pianists including Jerome Lowenthal (Juilliard), Arthur Greene (University of Michigan), Rachel Cheung (HKAPA), Gerardo Teissonnière (Cleveland Institute of Music), and Ian Parker (VAM).

Eric began teaching in 2014 and has experience working with students of all ages, from kindergarten to adults. His teaching philosophy centers on nurturing a continuous and motivating learning environment, shaped by each student’s unique interests, personality, and strengths.

He also holds a Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performance (LTCL) with distinction from Trinity College London, and ABRSM Grade 8 in Theory.

Outside of teaching, Eric enjoys listening to jazz and exploring different cuisines.
