I have taught piano and theory since 1995. My favourite part of teaching music is variety - from working with young beginners to coaching University students, every day is different.
Private lessons provide the opportunity to tailor curriculum to each student's specific gifts, needs & interests.
I particularly enjoy teaching Advanced Theory and working with the students of many local colleagues.
Over the years I have played the piano for RAD Classical Ballet, accompanied choirs, and regularly play at church chording & improvising for contemporary worship.
Currently, I have a small studio and work part-time for a Christian non-profit organization. I offer all lessons virtually or in-person, and have students studying harmony virtually from other continents!
I have an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree and hold a high value for life-long learning. After working towards my performer's ARCT as a teen & young adult, I am now working on the Piano Pedagogy Teacher's ARCT to continually improve my teaching.
I am an RCM Certified teacher at all levels of piano and theory (Elementary, Intermediate & Advanced), a member of ORMTA (Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association), and active in my local music community, including planning the annual Elmira Kiwanis Music Festival.
