Evan Lamberton

Evan Lamberton

As a teacher I offer a needs-based approach that is focused on building foundational technique and encourages musicianship by engaging my students in active listening and critical thinking related to their own playing. My ultimate goal with every student is to inspire and foster a love for the instrument and its music. All of this happens in a relaxed, engaging, and easy-going atmosphere. I teach cellists of all levels from beginners to those further along in their journey with the instrument. Biography: Cellist Evan Lamberton is a Toronto-based chamber musician and teacher. Evan began his studies in Vancouver under cellists Catherine Carmack and Ariel Barnes, with whom he developed a passion for chamber music and contemporary works. He then moved to study with Shauna Rolston at the University of Toronto, where he was a winner of the Felix Galimir Award for Excellence in Chamber Music in both 2014 and 2016. He can currently be found performing with the Polaris Prize nominated Queer Songbook Orchestra, and on faculty with Sistema Toronto as well as the Regent Park School of Music.
