Gary C K Eng

Gary Eng is an accomplished concert pianist. As first prize winner of the 4th International Pacific Piano Competition, the 1999 National Debut Young Artists Concert Series Competition, and a winner of The Canadian Music Competition, he has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician in Canada, the USA, and abroad. Mr. Eng's recorded live performances have been featured in A-B-A-C-A Youth Records Ltd. and CBC Radio Two's Westcoast Performances. Locally, he has graced the stages of The Gateway Theatre, Orpheum Theatre, and The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. Gary began piano lessons at the age of six. He studied with piano teacher Celia Hui prior to enrolling at The Vancouver Academy of Music, where he pursued advanced piano studies with Professor Lee Kum-Sing. While studying there, he obtained the distinguished Performer's Certificate with top honors. He also achieved his Associate Diploma (A.R.C.T.) from The Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto withdistinction. Gary continued on with his post secondary piano studies under the tutelage of Professor Lee Kum-Sing at The University of British Columbia, where he received his Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.) degree in piano performance. Aside from his music endeavours in Canada, Gary had also been selected annually to participate at various national and international music festivals and was invited to perform as a guest artist in their concert series. These included The Calgary Music Bridge Festival, The Casalmaggiore International Festival in Italy, The Holland International Music Sessions, Chopin Chez George Sand in France,and The International Mastercourse for Pianists in Wroclaw, Poland. Through these experiences, he has had the opportunity to study with renowned pianists such as Marc Durand, Andre Laplante,Marc Andre Hamelin,Jean Micault, John Perry, and John O'Conor.
