Dr. Gillian Smith is a dedicated teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience. She teaches through the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts and privately at her home teaching studio in Bedford, NS. Her students have won top prizes and awards in local, regional, and national competitions, including the Canadian Music Competition, FCMF National Music Competition, and the Nova Scotia Kiwanis Festival.
Gillian teaches students ages 7-17 at early intermediate and advanced levels (RCM Level 3/Suzuki Book 2 through ARCT). Her students have been recipients of the RCM Gold Medal and she regularly prepares students for RCM violin examinations.
Gillian holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music degree in violin performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in violin performance from the University of Minnesota's School of Music.
