John Beaton

My violin and viola students of all ages have experienced much success and enjoyed learning to play using the Suzuki method, as well as RCM materials. As Music Director of the Durham Youth Orchestra for almost 30 years, I have helped train numerous young musicians to perform great masterpieces by such composers as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Elgar and Tchaikovsky. Former DYO members have gone on to study music at such institutions as the University of Toronto, McGill University, the Glenn Gould School, the San Francisco Conservatory and the Juilliard School. I'm also a busy chamber music coach. I graduated from Western University's Faculty of Music and hold a B.Ed. from U of T.
