Kathleen Gahunia

With over 30 years of teaching experience, I am dedicated to helping students build strong technique while making lessons engaging, enjoyable, and inspiring. My approach blends structured RCM exam preparation with creative elements like improvisation, ensuring students develop both technical fluency and artistic expression in a supportive environment. As an ARCT Elementary Pedagogy & Elementary Pedagogy Specialist, I tailor lessons to each student’s learning style, focusing on performance, sight reading, and musicianship. I currently teach up to RCM Grade 8 and am gradually expanding into Grade 9 and beyond, offering students a solid foundation while preparing them for advanced musical studies. I am also actively working toward obtaining my ARCT designation, further deepening my expertise in piano pedagogy. Whether working toward RCM certifications or exploring music beyond the syllabus, I encourage students to find joy in playing, build confidence, and develop their unique musical voice. I welcome students of all levels who are eager to refine their skills, discover new musical possibilities, and deepen their connection to music.
