Mission My mission is to give my students: The best start in their music education A well-rounded education for a life-long enjoyment of music of all kinds A love of music and the love of studying music An opportunity to explore a wide variety of music: classical, popular, sacred, jazz A program that’s tailored to meet each student’s needs and learning style The skill of reading music and the skill of moving the fingers over the piano keys The skill of practicing effectively and learning how to teach themselves The courage and motivation to overcome fears and reticence in learning something new or difficult Positive reinforcement. It always gets the best results! The understanding that mistakes are good. We can learn from our mistakes. My time, energy & patience to learn from them: how I can help them be successful My Specialties Creative Teaching: I’m always coming up with new ways to teach the basic concepts of reading music and playing the piano. I have invented several teaching tools and games to accomplish this. Piano Recitals: I have 5 student piano recitals in the year to give the students lots of opportunity to practice performing. It also serves as a motivating factor in their practice time. Students With Special Needs: I’m successful in teaching students with autism. I also accommodate students who have other physical or mental challenges. Student Pace: I never rush or press a student to progress. I work at the student’s pace. Respect: I consider each student, no matter the age, a person of value. I earn the right to correct them at the piano by first focusing on what they do well before I offer correction. Parental Involvement: Parents are always welcome at the lesson. Payment: I have an equal payment plan: The cost of the year’s lessons are divided by 12 and payment is the same amount every month. Adult Piano Lessons: I offer my adult piano students a “Come When You Can” “Pay As You Go” deal. It works well for adults who have busy lives and cannot commit to a weekly lesson.
