Kirsten Blair

Hello! My name is Kirsten Blair, and I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. I have been teaching voice for about ten years and have recently discovered the RCM program through one of my wonderfully ambitious students. I hold a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music, both in Vocal Performance, and am in the final year of a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Voice (May 2021). I taught as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and as an Adjunct Professor of Voice at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and most recently fulfilled my contract as a DMA Teaching Assistant at Arizona State University and served as the Vocal Instructor of the ASU Community Music School- so basically, I love teaching and I am pretty qualified! My goal as a teacher is to help my students to explore their singing potential to the fullest and to enjoy it as much as possible! During the COVID-19 pandemic, I transitioned to and have continued teaching virtually, maintaining more than twenty students in my private *virtual* studio. The beauty of virtual study is that we can work together across great distances and time-zones- in fact, a majority of my current students are located outside of Alaska! Singing is a great practice for self expression and helps to develop body-awareness and explore the mind-body connection. I love working with singers of all ages and levels of experience, and encourage my clients to practice a variety of musical styles! Over the course of the past month I conducted a successful virtual workshop and performance series to connect my students and facilitate their personal growth, musical skills, and sense of community during this challenging time.
